You’ve got a website and it looks great! But what should your site be able to do besides looking good? SEO help

“SEO” means Search Engine Optimisation. What that really means is Google finds your site easy to read and digest. This allows the search engine to recommend your site to people searching for it. If it’s easy for Google to know what you’re saying that’s a good thing. Working out how to work with Google and topple the rankings is another situation entirely.

Firstly, you should have a content plan and roll out, once you’ve got that sorted what can your website do to help you? That’s where an SEO tool can come in handy. Our Top Pick is Yoast.

Yoast makes clear suggestions on SEO, it gives an analysis of your content and gives you suggestions on how to make the most of what you’ve written. It gives you a way to manipulate the snippet seen on google, and gives you the ability to add keywords. Top that off with a readability checker and the ability to adjust facebook and twitter content and you’ve got a powerful tool. Oh, did I mention this is free? Yep, that’s right free, simple to install, and works with 99% of new websites. There are extra premium features if needed but for most starting out fresh the free edition is fantastic.

Got Forms?

If you have a website you want people to contact you. Yes, having a phone number is great, having your email address or a generic info@ is also a simple move. But why not take this one step further and create a form? A form gives you a little anonymity to stop spammers and time wasters, it also gives you useful leading questions to get the information you need from your potential clients. Great, so how do I do that then?

Simple, install another free plugin – Contact Form 7. This Plugin allows you to add custom forms to your site, allows you to manage where this form is sent, and what is sent to the client, you can add a reCAPTCHA to stop spammers – everything you need. You can Also integrate with Mailchimp or install another plugin called Flamingo to store the form entries on the site. A Form function is a must have!
